Customs and Border Patrol agents in Baltimore seized 13,660 pair of counterfeit Converse All-Stars bound for Los Angeles.
“Unscrupulous manufacturers and vendors illegally profit on the sale of substandard counterfeit products, such as these fake Chucks, at the expense and safety of American consumers,” CBP Area Port of Baltimore Director Adam Rottman said.
An intial inspection on June 23 arroused suspicision of potential counterfitting, prompting the detainment of the shipment. Images sent to the Apparel, Footwear, and Textile Centers of Excellence and Expertise confirmed a violation of the Converse trademark.
The sneakers, if they were authentic, would have been worth $314,180.
No arrests have been made in connection to these counterfiet goods.
